We were selected to design and fabricate a custom scrubber system for a Texas-based chemical facility. With tight scheduling and process-specific requirements, the project demanded precision, speed, and deep technical knowledge of chemical scrubbing systems.

INTRODUCTION

The fabrication for the scrubber system design in Texas posed a unique challenge of placing the scrubber in a limited space at the facility while complying with permitting requirements. The design-build project had an aggressive timeline of two months.

The Problem

Our client was in the middle of developing a new process and needed custom-designed scrubbers that would fit in a predetermined, limited space while adhering to environmental permitting requirements. The H+M team was introduced to the project on a very tight two-month timeline.  

Challenges

  • Designing and building four custom scrubbers in a two-month timeline
  • Meeting environmental permit requirements due to space limitations
  • Ensuring the scrubber could be disassembled for future maintenance

Outcomes

The outcomes of scrubber system design fabrication projects in Texas included the following:

  • Performing laser scanning on the empty space at the facility and modeling the design for custom scrubbers to fit into that space  
  • Building the largest, maintenance-friendly scrubber in the space provided while meeting permitting requirements
  • Working with third-party vendors to do selections for the client based on simulation results 
  • Meeting client specifications for the design and fabrication of the project and delivering it on budget and on time within a two-month window  
  • Receiving positive feedback from the client that the scrubbers are performing as per the simulation results predicted
